Dugijan Village

Dugijan Village , an old well known & historical village in northeast of Marand township is located in a rich fertile plain along a seasonal river that sometimes becomes permanent. This village has the position of inter- plain hamlet with the height of 1550m from the sea level in a typical topeographical state whose soil is very suitable for dry & irrigated farming & gardening. Duijan is located in 35km of Marand & its distance from Tabriz is 95 kms via Marand & new town of Bonab & 60 kms via Sufian – Ammand road. Its neighbors are famous villages like:
Allanjag, Razaghan in the south, Noja dar darah (Nougha dici valley) & majid abad in the west & the villages of Arzil, Golakhir in the east & north. Finally it is near the Varzgan to kharvane road. The heights surrounded the village are as follows: Jaladaghi, Moghirati, Pirdaghi, Buzdagh. & kamardagh.
Duijan village located along northern coast of the seasonal river whose supply is of melting winter snow of the mountains. So passing this local river in order to reach the village is very difficult & troublesome. But recently, this problem has been solved by constructing a three spinal bridge. Since the past times, the transit road to this village was clay soil one & while raining, passing it was very hard, but now it is asphalted:
The village population is 910 people in 182 rural family whose jabs are farming, animal husbandry &carpet weaving & gardening.
Its facilities are utilities, elementary & guidance school, health care center & medical clinic, mosque &Islamic council
The main farming products of this village are: cereals, grains, forage for animals. All over the northern part of Duijan is surrounded by high mountains & nice forests & it has special rich nature with a well known cave of Duijan & a very interesting cascade like river flows toward the north of this village whose color is special white like, maybe because of containing minerals. After passing 30 km, it pours into a deep beautiful mountain valley called Golakhir near to Arzil & at last after watering cherry gardens of Arzil & walnut & almond gardens of Golakhir it reaches to Aras river. Beside the unique nature & the pleasant & having four season climate, touristic attractions of Duijan that was of interest of the researchers & nature tourists, is the presence of a very great & valuable natural cave that has attracted many visitors.
The cave small opening is seen from a forest valley near a hill & mountain pinnacle and by climbing the hill, one reaches to the cave & faces the creation & nature marvel! The length & height of it is unknown. In some parts of it the noise of water murmuring could be heard. Visitors can enjoy its wonders by using enough illumination equipments but after 3 or 4 km they can not keep walking because of lower oxygen & increasing carbon dioxide.

In spite of road difficulties, the people interested in protecting national identity & their one traditions & customs, did not change the whole rural structure & have kept the traditionally architecture quality in this nice, historical village. What could be seen is using the existing building elements like clay mud, sandy sail, rock, & forest wood to cover the houses.
In the east side of Duijan there is a region called Iizajan as its name says it dates back to the ancient pre- Islamic ages. Perhaps this ancient village had excellent value in those days.
All over the mountains of this village are full of mineral rocks of iron & copper & may be gold .Russia government had exploited them & now signs of these mines can be observed completely.
